Pros and Cons of Mac Laptops

Everyone at our Van Meter High School loves our Mac laptops. But there are definitely some pros and cons to them. I'll start with the pros... We all love them so much and they are very helpful to us with our school work. We can also use them for other things around or home like getting on other websites to just have fun. At school we all have emails so when we sign up for websites for the school, only with permission of course, we can just go and check our emails for updates about those websites. We also like the fact that when we have free time at school, we can spend it on our laptops, or doing something productive on them. There are cons though. Like the fact that a lot of the kids mess around on their laptops while they are suppose to be listening in class. Or they just listen to music on them and don't listen to the teacher. That lowers our grades and doesn't say much for the teachers. Also, some people aren't careful with them. They will just leave them out in the middle of floor and someone will step on them or something. There have been two people just in my 7th grade class that have already dropped their laptops and completely busted the screen and had to get them replaced. I hope that that won't happen to often anymore but I can't make any promises. I also hope that you will follow my blog and keep updated on what happens with these Mac laptops at Van Meter.

Preposition Song

Our 7th grade class at Van Meter had made a Preposition song and posted it on youtube.com. Our language teacher, Mrs. Nelsen, was the one that had us do it. I tried to post the video on here because it shows some of the valuable things that we can do with our laptops and all the amazing things that we can do to the video. Mac Attack Draws Attention to Van Meter High School

Wow. This year Van Meter has been getting unbelievable attention from news channels all over Iowa. It's crazy! Just yesterday, IPTV (Iowa Public Television) came to our school to interview students from our school. My best friend, Summer Jo who ironically got me started on this website, was the 7th grader that got interviewed. It airs on March 25, 2009, on channel 11. I hope you get inspired to watch it and see what kind of new things Van Meter has up their sleeve for using these laptops. I have heard rumors that in about 2 to 3 years that there will be no more text books because they will have all of the text from the text books on our laptops. I think that will draw even more attention to our school, which is very good. I hope that we get to have these laptops for a long time... Remember, watch students from Van Meter High School talk about their laptops and how much they have helped out education. Once again, it airs on March 25, 2009, on channel 11. (Not sure what time so that's kinda a bust.)
